Sierra Lago Resort
A Rustic Resort in the Sierra Madre Mountains near Puerto Vallarta
Unconventionality. Sometimes it's the single-most important factor in a nice relaxing vacation, a memorable getaway, or an absolutely one-of-a-kind travel experience. The Villa Group introduces a unique resort experience that combines a mountain lake, stunning pastoral scenery, blue skies, clean air, and even reasonable proximity to the Banderas Bay and downtown Puerto Vallarta. It's called Sierra Lago and it represents a pristine peace and a different slant on what you might imagine the typical Mexico vacation to be.

The all-inclusive Sierra Lago (Mountain Lake) Resort is located in the midst of the lush Sierra Madre Range on the western Pacific borders about 20 minutes east (commuter plane time) from Puerto Vallarta. The natural splendor of the location is magnificent, and is home to the Juanacatlán Lagoon, a mirror lake formed in an ancient volcanic crater. Witness beautiful reflections of the sun-topped mountains in the water by morning, as mist rises from the surface, heralded by a chorus of warbling birds that is uplifting and cheerful to any soul. Verdant hillsides and trees everywhere provide greenery that is alive with color.

The facilities of the Sierra Lago Resort are comfortable and rustic. The remote, 23-room boutique hotel is designed for groups and those looking for a range of outdoor activities; With just 23 rooms, this is an intimate setting with each cabaña (cabin) overlooking the lagoon and views of the mountains. Choose from Eco Suites (canvas suites that can be fully opened to the fresh mountain air), Standard Cabañas that combine rustic Mexican décor with modern comforts, or Suite Cabañas with king-size bed, Jacuzzi tub, and fireplace. Two restaurants and a Spa are on site. The resort offers meeting facilities for up to 50 people in a theater style seating arrangement. They can also accommodate smaller groups for meetings and receptions. The culinary staff provides a number of meal options including full service and buffet style for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Should you require audiovisual equipment, the necessary equipment and set up can be arranged.

Onsite is La Laguna Restaurant serving fresh fruit buffets and Mexican style breakfasts and featuring dinners of regional delicacies by candlelight and soft music. La Terrazza serves a three-course lunch with a program of entertainment by trained Spanish horses and champion charros performing old style dances to a variety of Latin tunes. The all-inclusive package includes accommodations, meals, drinks, and taxes and gratuities.

The resort and its unique setting offer several activities and recreational possibilities. Start out with horseback riding and take a guided tour of the surroundings on one of the Spanish horses at the resort. With several mountain bikes on hand, try your hand on one and cruise the many trails or even venture into one of the small neighboring villages. These villages are a real look into Old Mexico charm and culture, removed from the commercialism and marketing hype, where you will find real towns with real people who live a simpler lifestyle than most, and who are some of the friendliest people anywhere. Enjoy playing football and softball near the resort with the towering Sierra Madres as your backdrop. And of course there are water sports, with the Juanacatlán Lagoon at your feet. Fishing is glorious and peaceful here, and you can even have your fresh catch grilled by the chefs at your request. Kayaking offers a close-up perspective to Sierra Lago's beauty from the water. You can even engage in some exploration via paddleboats and be a kid again! Should you get a hankering to visit the Pacific and Puerto Vallarta, you are not very far away. Puerto Vallarta has a lot to offer. There is excellent golfing, world-class fishing, seasonal whale watching, sightseeing, nature hiking or horseback riding amidst rivers and waterfalls, nightlife, shopping, snorkeling and diving.

Sierra Lago! The perfect place to get away from the crowds and drink in all the beauty and peaceful surroundings that Nature has to offer, combined with the optional attractions that nearby Puerto Vallarta has to offer - sounds like the best of all worlds. See you in Mexico's Sierra Madres!
